APL’s Dawnielle Farrar Recognized as ‘Rising Star’ at Tech Conference
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, in Laurel, Md., is proud to announce that Dawnielle Farrar, an electrical engineer in its Technical Services Department, was recognized as a “Rising Star” at the Women of Color Government and Defense Technology conference, held July 18-20 in Washington, D.C.
The award, given to minority women under age 30 who are “demonstrating outstanding performance in helping shape technology for the future,” noted Farrar’s contributions to Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems-based (MEMS) thermal control systems for the 2004 NASA Space Technology-5 mission. She has also made significant contributions to spacecraft for the MESSENGER, STEREO and New Horizon missions.
Farrar is featured in the current issues of Women of Color Conference magazine and Diversity/Careers in Engineering and Information Technology magazine.
