BioBobby Armiger leads the Exploratory Science Branch within APL’s Research and Exploratory Development Department. His branch seeks to drive pioneering research in the areas of biological sciences, human performance and biomechanics, multifunctional materials and nanostructures, and experimental and computational physics in order to enable APL’s future missions. Bobby’s research has encompassed computer and robotic assisted surgical systems, development of neuroprosthetic technologies for restoring function to wounded warfighters, and performing modeling and simulation to understand and mitigate traumatic injury. He is a member of APL’s Principal Professional Staff and was named Outstanding Young Engineer by the Maryland Academy of Sciences. Since 2020 he has led APL-wide efforts to create initiatives for sustainable contributions that address national security and global challenges resulting from climate change.
