Our Contribution

The Mission

APL has successfully delivered, flown, and operated two miniaturized satellites, or CubeSats, as part of a Lab-led flight demonstration known as the CubeSat Assessment and Test (CAT).

Spacecraft and Instruments

The two identical 3U (nanosatellite) configuration CubeSats each had two deployed solar panels and an industry-provided radio frequency payload. The satellites were launched from the International Space Station in 2019.

Results and Expectations

Capitalizing on APL’s successful small-satellite Multimission Bus Demonstration, the Lab conducted system engineering activities, subsystem analysis, requirements development, and mission operations for this test.
