BioDr. Timothy J. Galpin is the assistant director for programs and strategy at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. Dr. Galpin oversees all government-sponsored technical work as well as serving as the Laboratory’s chief strategy officer and chief quality officer. In that role, he chairs the internal Investment Strategy Team that aligns resources to strategy at the enterprise level. Finally, Dr. Galpin chairs the Engineering Management master’s program for the Johns Hopkins University’s Engineering for Professionals Program. Dr. Galpin earned a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy, an M.A. from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He holds certificates in management from the University of Virginia and in national security from the Harvard Kennedy School and MIT Seminar XXI. Dr. Galpin writes on business and national security issues and serves on nonprofit boards, including for the Maryland Science Center, as well as on federal advisory panels in acquisition and technology.
