Robert Schaefer

Dr. Robert Schaefer is an aeronomer and astrophysicist whose work focuses on upper atmospheric research. He is the deputy project scientist on the Special Sensor Ultraviolet Spectrographic Imager (SUSSI) on the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program and also works on its sister instrument, the Global Ultraviolet Imager (GUVI), on NASA’s Thermosphere, Ionosphere, Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) satellite. He studies effects in the ionosphere, thermosphere, and auroral zone.
