Bio
BioDr. Paul McNamee is a principal scientist whose research interests include machine translation, information retrieval, and natural language processing. He has worked on developing analytics in lower-resourced languages in support of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief activities. More recently, he has been exploring data augmentation techniques suitable for neural machine translation. He teaches graduate-level courses in information retrieval and natural language processing through the Johns Hopkins University Engineering for Professionals program and is also a senior research scientist with the Johns Hopkins Human Language Technology Center of Excellence. He has published over 100 scientific papers and is active in the Association for Computational Linguistics and the Association for Computing Machinery professional societies. His areas of expertise include artificial intelligence and machine learning, human language technologies, human–machine teaming, and intelligent systems.
