Bio
BioDr. Parisa Mostafavi is a space physicist interested in the structure and properties of the solar wind and energetic particles. She developed a theoretical model and a numerical code to investigate the structure the shock waves in the presence of the energetic particles in the heliosphere and the very local interstellar medium (VLISM). She has investigated the role of pickup ions at the heliospheric termination shock, the inner heliosheath, and the VLISM. Her research interests also include the interaction of our heliosphere with the VLISM. Dr. Mostafavi is modeling the inner heliosphere with the GAMERA MHD code to study the turbulence and instabilities of the solar wind at unprecedented resolution. She is also interested in Parker Solar Probe observations of switchbacks and their origins.
