Bio
BioKeith Caruso is a principal staff engineer whose research focuses on spectrally controlled materials and high-temperature materials and coatings. He is principal investigator and project manager for projects involving novel material concept development, fabrication, characterization, and testing and is a lead for research in electromagnetics. In addition to leading a wide variety of programs involving spectral properties and signatures, he has led efforts in ceramic coatings development for the Parker Solar Probe heat shield, coatings to protect structures and sensors from high-energy-laser directed energy, and materials for hypersonics. His efforts seek to bring together elements of materials research and development, physics-based modeling and simulation, and test engineering to advance technologies’ readiness levels toward critical field demonstrations.
