Bio
BioKaren Cahill is a spectroscopist/geochemist who has participated in several NASA missions to Mars and Mercury. She has 20 years’ experience, in both government and academia, with remote sensing and laboratory analysis of samples. Her remote sensing experience ranges from terrestrial and planetary geochemistry to land mine and IED detection and has involved fieldwork, research, peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations at conferences, education and public outreach, and proposal writing. Karen is proficient with IDL and ENVI, igneous crystallization modeling programs, and multiple linear regression techniques, as well as word processing, spreadsheet, and graphical programs, and she is familiar with MATLAB, UNIX systems, web design, and ArcGIS software.
