Bio
BioDr. Jesper Gjerloev is a scientist and leading international expert in the area of magnetosphere-ionosphere (M-I) physics with a particular focus on auroral dynamics. Dr. Gjerloev is an expert in M-I coupling and relating observations to processes using imaging as a reference frame. He is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, has won more than 20 competitive proposals, and has given more than 100 invited presentations at international meetings. Dr. Gjerloev is active in the science community and is a known community builder, having founded and led SuperMAG, a global network of magnetometers involving more than 35 organizations and 100 countries. He is the project scientist for the EZIE mission, co-investigator (co-I) for the NASA-funded ACES II sounding rocket project, and co-I on the previous ACES project. He has significant experience in M-I research with a focus on auroral forms and the associated electrodynamics. Dr. Gjerloev has been a thesis adviser for numerous students at the Johns Hopkins University, the University of Copenhagen, and the University of Bergen.
