BioJeffrey A. Tober is the managing executive for the Air and Missile Defense Sector at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory. He oversees a line organization of over 1,350 technical staff members and is responsible for ensuring the development of technical capabilities necessary to meet emerging challenges in the air and missile defense domain, developing and resourcing technical facilities to support the sector’s competency areas, and creating an inclusive environment that will enable the next generation of defining innovations. Mr. Tober has contributed to developing ballistic missile defense radar systems, cultivating knowledge in radio frequency (RF) discrimination, RF signatures, combat systems engineering, and high-fidelity modeling and simulation. He was previously supervisor of the Systems Integration Branch, which focuses on force-level, multi-mission defensive combat systems development. Before joining the Laboratory, Mr. Tober worked in various management-consulting positions at EY (then known as Ernst & Young) and Willis Towers Watson. He earned a master’s degree in physics from the Johns Hopkins University and bachelor’s degrees in physics as well as management science and statistics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
