Bio
BioDr. Adrienn Luspay-Kuti is an interdisciplinary scientist and the principal investigator for the Plasma Instrument for Magnetic Sounding (PIMS) on Europa Clipper. Her research focuses on understanding the ionospheres and photochemistry of cold nitrogen-methane atmospheres (Titan, Pluto, Triton); comets and volatile trapping in the early solar system; plasmas in the environment of Jupiter’s icy moon, Europa; and comparative planetology. Dr. Luspay-Kuti was the investigation scientist for PIMS from 2021 to 2023 and a science team member for the Rosetta Orbiter Spectrometer for Ion and Neutral Analysis (ROSINA) instrument on the Rosetta mission from 2014 to 2018, and she worked on ion beam calibration for use on the Cassini Ion and Neutral Mass Spectrometer (INMS). She has held leadership positions on several mission concepts and has been contributing to mission development within APL. Dr. Luspay-Kuti has extensive laboratory experience with cryogenic planetary environments including Titan laboratory simulations, plasma instrument calibration, and data analysis of instruments on various space missions, and she has a track record of facilitating collaboration with various institutes on multiple topics.
