Barry Grabow

Dr. Barry Grabow is the mission area executive for Global Health at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), leading the mission area in its work to eliminate health threats, whether naturally occurring, deliberate, or accidental, through revolutionary science and engineering. Under Dr. Grabow’s leadership, the Global Health Mission Area leverages APL’s vast, cross-disciplinary capabilities plus partnerships across Johns Hopkins, including Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Bloomberg School of Public Health, to solve the nation’s most critical health challenges. Previously, Dr. Grabow held multiple APL leadership and supervisory roles, including deputy mission area executive for Cyber Operations and chief of staff of the Asymmetric Operations Sector. He is an accomplished engineer with extensive applied experience for federal sponsors. Dr. Grabow joined APL in 1994 and was named to APL’s distinguished Principal Professional Staff in 2005. He is a U.S. Army and Wisconsin Army National Guard veteran. He earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and an M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Johns Hopkins University.
