Johns Hopkins APL Board Member Roughead, Assistant Director Fox Appointed to Commission on the National Defense Strategy

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) Board of Managers member Adm. (Ret.) Gary Roughead, former Chief of Naval Operations, and APL Assistant Director for Policy and Analysis Christine Fox, formerly the acting Deputy Secretary of Defense, have been selected to serve on the Commission on the National Defense Strategy for the United States, a new panel of national security experts appointed by Congress to make recommendations for the nation’s defense strategy.

The bipartisan commission will look at the assumptions, missions, force posture, force structure and risks associated with the nation’s defense strategy, and make its recommendations to the president, secretary of defense and relevant congressional committees.
