FIRST

The mission of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills; inspire innovation; and foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership. APL proudly hosts two FIRST events—the FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship and the FIRST LEGO League state qualifier competition—that are closely aligned with our goal of helping students realize their potential to become STEM professionals.
